On March 31st, 2012, my father tragically passed away in an automobile accident near Swimmers Delight on State Highway 36. His life abruptly ended because a portion of a redwood tree next to the highway fell and landed on the vehicle that he was driving. My mother was also in the vehicle at the time of the crash and fortunately survived the incident. It was during this process that our family was introduced to attorney Ben Mainzer.
After investigating, Ben determined that Caltrans was responsible for the accident, and the decision was made to go forward with the case. Our case lasted 6 years as Caltrans consistently tried to derail the process.
Ben never wavered in his support for my mother and the rest of our family. No matter the status of the case, Ben never had anything but my mom’s best interest in mind. Ben went beyond my expectations when it came to the care of my mother. He looked out for not only our legal interests, but also ensured that she had access to the emotional support that she needed following the tragic incident she experienced. The preparation for trial in such a case takes an emotional toll on the victims and their families, and I feel that this toll was always the most important thing on Ben’s mind. Attorneys often earn a bad reputation that their only concern is about the money that they will make. Throughout the entire six-year process, I never felt for one second that money for the law firm was driving Ben’s decision-making. From start to finish, it was completely obvious that Ben’s mission was to make sure my mother was represented vigorously with her best interest in mind; while also holding Caltrans accountable for their negligence.
